This year too, the third edition of the Internet Festival took place from 9 to 12 October in Pisa , four days of events dedicated to the digital world and culture. The event was promoted by local institutions together with prestigious schools such as the Superiore Sant'Anna and the Normale Superiore and in this edition Galileo Galilei was chosen as testimonial on the 450th anniversary of his birth and " Matter " was chosen as the theme. The underlying theme of the event directed by Claudio Giua, President of Fondazione Sistema Toscana, is the Network Economies, responsible for the process of social changes of the current digital revolution. An opportunity to explore in eight different sections aspects related to the themes of culture, participation, professional opportunities, green startups, design, gaming business, up to the link between hackers and privacy.
Round tables, seminars and debates which saw as protagonists and speakers personalities from Uruguay Mobile Number List the world of national and international culture (from Alberto Abruzzese to Moni Ovadia, from Derrick De Kerkhove to Nathan Jurgenson), but also exhibitions and installations which with their colours, sounds and innovative energy have filled the common spaces as evidence of the evolution of design between creativity and technologies. A special area has been equipped to host recreational-educational workshops for teenagers, children and even adults (T-Tour). A fascinating and engaging format, distributed across multiple locations of Pisan life, from bookshops (Feltrinelli and Ubik) to schools (Polo Fibonacci UniPi, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna), from squares to parks (Bastione San Gallo, Stazione Leopolda, Cineclub Arsenale etc ). One of the most anticipated events was certainly the conference which saw the presence of Derrick De Kerckhove who told the Festival audience his vision of the Internet and the fate of the network (and of society).
Derrick de Kerckhove's words are important, as they clarify the true nature of the Internet which, for the Canadian-born Belgian sociologist, is a place where the user is given control of the word on the screen. The Internet, in fact, is distinguished by three fundamental characteristics: connectivity, hypertextuality and interactivity, so that in it there is a real tension towards a global memory, although access is individual. Kerckhove, in addition to inheriting the teachings of his teacher Marshall McLuhan, who, regarding the mass media, asserts that "in the electronic village noise is reality", directs his thoughts in the wake of the studies carried out by Pierre Lévy, who shows how the Internet it is a "living" space, since it lives, precisely, on a collective, active and human presence. For the French philosopher, who studies the impact of the Internet on society, the virtual world is in fact a transformation from one way of being to another.
